ORCA Card - Reloaded

The Seattle area ORCA card website has not been significantly updated since 2008. It's difficult to use, and is not responsive. My friend Jay and I decided to build a modernized sample version of the site using React. With only one week to complete the project, we aimed for a mobile-first design to demonstrate the ease of use for riders on the go.

We also tackled learning Redux to build into our React app. Implementing the centralized store allowed us to easily send and retrieve user & card data to render amongst various componenents. This provides scalability if the app were to be built out to the full functionality of the existing ORCA site. We built a back end using Node, Express, and PostgreSQL to demonstrate how our site may interact with an existing database of ORCA data.

Please note that this project is not affiliated with Sound Transit or ORCA, it is a demo site only.
